Plant rooms and pipework for leisure centres
A leisure centre uses more hot water than almost any other building its size, and the plant room runs hard all day. We work on the boilers, the hot water plant, the pumps and the heating and chilled pipework behind it, and we plan around the opening hours.

Heavy demand, long hours
Showers, pool halls, changing rooms and cafes all pull on the same plant. When something in the plant room fails, the centre loses revenue by the hour, so the work is about getting the right plant in and keeping it running, not about the cheapest unit on the day.
Where a replacement is planned, we can sequence it so the centre stays open, with temporary provision agreed in advance where it is needed.

What we do in a leisure centre
Commercial boilers and plant rooms. Hot water plant, cylinders and circulating pumps. Heating and chilled pipework to air handling units and fan coil units. Drainage for changing rooms and showers.

For the operator and the contractor
Risk assessments and method statements per job. Public liability cover of 5 million pounds. Work is taken directly from the operator or the council, and as a subcontractor to the mechanical contractor on a larger scheme.

Questions about leisure centres
Can you replace plant in a leisure centre without closing it?
Usually, with the work sequenced around opening hours and temporary provision agreed in advance where it is needed. Where a short closure is unavoidable, you will be told before the job is priced, not during it.
Can you work while the building stays open?
Yes, and most commercial work is done that way. It means temporary provision where it is needed, isolations agreed in advance, and being straight about what has to happen out of hours.
Do you work evenings, weekends or holidays?
Where the building needs it, yes, agreed in advance as part of the plan for the job rather than sprung on anyone.
What commercial work do you take on?
Plant rooms, commercial boilers, tank rooms, fan coil units, heating and chilled pipework, suspended drainage and dry risers, plus pipework assembly of every type: soldered, brazed, welded, screwed, grooved, fusion, crimped, cast iron and uPVC.
Can you price against a quote I already have?
Yes. Send us the quote you have, with the prices blanked out if you prefer, and we will price the same job against it. That goes for a domestic boiler as much as a commercial plant room. If the quote you have is a fair one, you will be told that too.
How far do you travel for commercial work?
Further than for domestic. Larger commercial jobs take us across the South East and into London. For small jobs, we stay close to Eastbourne.
